Terry Hall, the lead singer of the Specials and a former member of Fun Boy Three and the Colourfield, has died aged 63, on Monday 19 December, his bandmates in the Specials have confirmed.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing, following a brief illness, of Terry, our beautiful friend, brother and one of the most brilliant singers, songwriters and lyricists this country has ever produced,” the band tweeted.
The band have also requested the star’s family’s privacy be respected. Bandmate Neville Staple led the tributes last night. “This has hit me hard,” Staple wrote on Twitter, adding: “We knew Terry had been unwell but didn’t realize how serious until recently. We had only just confirmed some 2023 joint music agreements together.
