John Cena and Jason Momoa have signed on to star in the action-comedy Killer Vacation from Warner Bros. Hollywood’s favorite musclemen are teaming up as the leads in the cast of Killer Vacation. This is an action-comedy in production by Warner Bros Studios. The film will be the second collaboration between John Cena and Jason Momoa, who recently met on the set of Fast X, the conclusion to the Fast & Furious franchise.
The film will be the latest in a recent string of collaborations between the two DC stars. The 43-year-old (Aquaman and Lost Kingdom) and the 45-year-old (Peacemaker) are to put their musclebound physiques and comedic chops to good use in the film which is stated as an action comedy by Variety. Sources told Variety that Momoa and Cena met while filming Fast X and struck up a good rapport that led them to search for another project where they could work together. According to Variety, they had so much fun hanging around on the set of Fast X (where Cena is back as Jakob Toretto and Momoa plays a villain) that they wanted to find something else to work on together.
Details as to the film’s plot are under wraps since Warner Bros still has it in development. But Mark and Brian Gunn (Brightburn) wrote the script. John Rickard and Peter Safran will be in charge of producing the movie, which had been set up at the studio before Safran and James Gunn took charge of DC. Variety describes the upcoming film as a “rowdy new action comedy” that’s comparable to True Lies, a 1994 action film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Harry Tasker, a computer salesman leading a secret double life as a secret agent for Omega Sector, a U.S. Counterterrorism Unit. Jamie Lee Curtis also stars as Helen Tasker, Harry’s wife, with Tom Arnold as Albert “Gib” Gibson, a fellow Omega Sector Agent.
